Information We Collect
AISC collects and holds personal information about students to deliver training and meet regulatory obligations.
- Student enrolment and administration data: Name, date of birth, contact details, emergency contacts, identification verification
- Training delivery and assessment records: Attendance, progress, learning outcomes, assessment results, submissions
- AVETMISS reporting data: Mandatory VET data including qualification codes, delivery modes, funding information
- STELA reporting: For SkillsSA-funded students, state-specific data for compliance
- USI verification: Unique Student Identifier linkage for national VET records
- Communication records: Email, phone, LMS messages related to training delivery and student support
Legal Framework
AISC operates under the following privacy and regulatory laws.
- Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth): Governs handling of personal information by organisations
- Australian Privacy Principles (APPs): 13 principles covering collection, use, disclosure, data quality, and access
- National VET Data Policy: Sets national standards for VET data collection and protection
- Data Provision Requirements 2020: Specifies mandatory AVETMISS data provision to regulatory bodies

Regulatory Bodies
- NCVER (National Centre for Vocational Education Research): AVETMISS reporting, VET Quality Indicators analysis
- ASQA (Australian Skills Quality Authority): Regulatory oversight and compliance audits
- SkillsSA: For funded students, via STELA reporting system
Third Parties
- USI Registrar: Verification and national VET record linkage
- Workplace placement hosts: With your explicit consent; limited to essential training information
- Success and Wellbeing Services (SYC): For SkillsSA students accessing support services
No disclosure without consent: AISC will not disclose your information to any other parties except where required by law (e.g., subpoena, law enforcement).
Your Privacy Rights
Access to Your Personal Information
- Submit an Access to Records Request Form to admin@aisc.edu.au
- Response provided within 30 days, at no charge
- Access covers all personal information held by AISC
Correct Inaccurate Information
- Submit an Amendment to Records Request Form to admin@aisc.edu.au
- AISC will assess and correct information promptly
Request Refusal of Disclosure
- You may request that AISC not disclose your information (with legal exceptions)
- Submit in writing; legal obligations may override this request
Data Security & Breach Management
Data Breach Response
- Assessment: All breaches assessed within 24 hours
- OAIC notification: If notifiable breach (serious risk to individuals), Office of the Australian Information Commissioner is notified within 30 days
- ASQA notification: Reportable breaches notified per ASQA Compliance Requirement 17 (CR17)
- Student notification: Affected students notified if serious risk identified
Record Retention
- Student training records: Retained 30 years post-completion (AQF requirement)
- Student submissions: Retained 2 years for auditing and quality assurance
- Secure disposal: Records securely destroyed after retention period
