Wound Management for Aged Care, NDIS and Community Settings
Confident wound assessment, classification and dressing selection — within scope of practice.
This is a non-accredited course and does not lead to a statement of attainment or a nationally recognised qualification.
What's covered
Pressure injuries, skin tears, diabetic foot ulcers and post-surgical wounds are everyday clinical challenges across aged care, NDIS and community settings. This PD builds clinical confidence in assessing, classifying and dressing acute and chronic wounds — every step within scope of practice for ENs, RNs, AINs and senior support workers.
The comprehensive format adds case-based scenario practice, supervised wound-photography and documentation drills, and a workplace project where you bring back a wound assessment template tailored to your service.
You will be able to
- Apply a structured wound assessment using the TIME / TIMERS framework
- Classify pressure injuries (Stage 1–4, Unstageable, SDTI) using Australian guidelines
- Select appropriate dressing categories and rationalise dressing change frequency
- Identify signs of clinical infection and escalate appropriately
- Document wound progress and photograph in line with privacy and clinical record standards
